Peter Paras has nearly 25 years of experience in structured investment banking and merchant banking. He is currently the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Cornerstone Capital Corporation and Cornerstone Capital Partners Corporation.
Mr. Paras has executed over $6 billion of securities issues. In 1985, Mr. Paras executed $350 million of Collateralized Mortgage Obligations secured by single-family loans for the savings & loan industry. In 1987, Mr. Paras executed one of the first Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities for Cardinal Industries, now Lexford Properties, utilizing their seasoned multi-family portfolio. Since 1989, Mr. Paras has executed transactions secured by leases from Fortune 500 companies, including, but not limited to, Chase Manhattan Bank, IBM, 3M, Kmart, Walmart, CVS, Lowes, Rite Aid, Walgreen, Cardinal Health, and Eckerd. Since 1990, Mr. Paras has originated over $1 billion of synthetic lease loans. Mr. Paras also formed Asset Holdings Corporation, an independent real estate leasing company, which has formed joint ventures with corporate clients to own and develop facilities that are in turn leased to the corporate client. Mr. Paras’ experience includes the development of an innovative financing program, credit enhanced Floating Rate Notes (“FRN”), which has resulted in $4 billion in issues since its inception.
Prior to forming Cornerstone, Mr. Paras spent 14 years as the Managing Director of the Special Products Finance Group for Banc One Capital Markets, Inc., the investment banking arm of Bank One. Mr. Paras managed a $150 million warehouse lending fund and a $50 million venture capital fund for Bank One. Mr Paras was also a management consultant, specializing in asset/liability restructuring for financial institutions with Deloitte, Haskins & Sells and Booz, Allen & Hamilton International, where he consulted the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Finance on the restructuring of their three Development Banks. Prior to receiving an MBA from the London Business School, London, England, Mr. Paras was associated with Merrill Lynch. Mr. Paras also received a Master of Arts degree and Bachelor of Arts degree with Honors from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan. Mr. Paras. securities qualifications include NASD Series 7, 24, 53 and 63.
